“El! Where are we going?”

Elena didn’t even turn her head, replying with a ‘saving people?’ in a snappy way. Sometimes she wondered if her sister actually loved her. She had to right? I mean nobody with the right sense of mind would stick with your kid sister who saw things, the most horrible things. Ghosts, demons, weird looking creatures Elena didn’t want to know the name of, but she did because she looked them up. That’s how she is.

Closing herself up in her own world for a bit, she ran over the images in her head. Closing her eyes so she could relive it, try to make something out of it, a little movie inside her head.

Those dogs, she had seen them but where? Another research? Which book? Which site?

Then it hit her, she remembered exactly where she had seen those dogs before. She cross referenced it with a failed saving, but this time it was different. Opening her eyes she noticed that Kirsten was pulling up the car to get gas and a smile crept on her face, realizing that for once they had a fair shot at saving a person.

She laughed and when her sister told her to fill up the car she giggled again and got out of the car to get the gas. While she was filling up the car she opened the trunk and went through the collection of books she had gathered over the years. Internet was fine and all but nothing compared to going through books, the old way.

Finding what she was looking for, she heard a ping telling her that the car was filled up. Walking inside the store she grabbed a few snacks and paid the cashier. Arms filled with food and holding the book tightly against her body she walked back to the car.

“I found what I was looking for. You’re not going to believe it.”

Dropping the food on the dashboard Elena flicked through the book until she found what she was looking for.

“A hellhound is a demonic dog of Hell, found in mythology or in fiction. Hellhounds typically have features such as an unnaturally large size, a black fur colour, glowing eyes, super strength or speed, ghostly or phantom characteristics, and sometimes even the ability to talk. They are often assigned to guard the entrance to the world of the dead or undertake other duties related to the afterlife or the supernatural, such as hunting down lost souls or guarding a supernatural treasure.”

As she finished reading the part in her book she looked at her sister. “So worst case scenario, one of them made a deal or maybe both with a demon and those dogs are there to collect a soul?”

Sitting back she pondered for a moment. “That woman in my vision must be the demon they struck a deal with and if they did struck a deal then there’s not much we can do about it...”

Letting out a frustrating groan she looked out of the window “Why did I get that vision if we can’t save them? Why? So we can see another die?”

Watching the scenery outside passing by as they drove down the road Elena wondered how long she could drag her sister along until she was fed up. Until she finally would give up and tell her kid sister that it was enough, that she had seen enough.

“I’m sorry...”

She truly was sorry; she had dragged her sister into this. Just like this. Not even thinking about it. One morning, that morning when she had gotten her first ‘vision’, she had dragged her sister out of bed, drove off to where she believed a murder was happening only to find the cops there and hearing her vision word for word told to her by a shocked neighbour.

A woman torn apart, claw marks corresponding with a big dog. Elena knew better. Explaining to her sister what she had seen, Kirsten declared her insane until more visions appeared and Elena could tell her older sister word for word what had happened.

And here they were again, on the road to try and save somebody but this time it was different, they had gotten a timeframe longer than most other visions. So there was a chance, right?
